Pardon my ignorance, I've not done any original research.I'm trying to help my son research a character to go as to a Thanksgiving celebration, and thought an ancestor would be kind of neat.Checked out a booklet my grandmother gave me years ago, then was double checking on the Mormon geneology web site, and I'm very confused.
You show Samuel (1668) Edgerly's father as Thomas (1645) Edgerley of Oyster River, Stafford, NH, and Thomas' father as Francis (1576) Edgerly of Oxfordshire, England.I agree that Francis sounds too old for Thomas' father.
Perhaps there's another Thomas between "1645 Thomas" and Francis? Here's why I'm wondering this. The booklet my grandmother gave me is called "Centennial Reunion of Scott Descendants, Bosqueville Baptist Church, June 1st, 1957".Here's the entry for Thomas Edgerly, who's listed as Samuel's father:
"Judge Thomas Edgerly sailed from England in the ship "Arbella" on April 8, 1630, and arrived in Salem, Massachusetts, June 12, 1630.This ancestor was 'one of the seven Judges of His Majesties Province of New Hampshire.'He settled in Dover, New Hampshire, and married Rebecca Ault Halloway. He had five sons, one of which was killed by the Indians."
I'd love to understant more about Judge Thomas.Do you have any information close at hand?Could Judge Thomas be Samuel's grandfather rather than father?I'm not sure where to go with all this, but I'm interested to give it a try!
