While I'm sure we're distant relations, my family was from Paisley, then to the US.A few generations back, Thomas Edmond, born 1786 Glasgow, married Helen Hedderwick, 8/11/07, after that, appears they moved (across the river?) to Paisley. What caught my attention is the name Alexander Edmond. My grandfather, Alexander McPhee Edmond, born 1865, Paisley, emigrated to NY, USA about 1890, and shortly thereafter sent for his mother, Mary McPhee Edmond, and his siblings, Christina, Robt. Hedderwick, Grace Erskine, Charles McNeil, Mary, and Agnes Erskine Edmond. After living in Brooklyn, NY, then northern New Jersey, they settled in Carteret, NJ about 1905. I was curious if you were aware of the ship (Barque) Alexander Edmond, which tragically shipwrecked on the coast of Ireland during a storm in 1850.A year or two ago, I tried to research who the ship was named after, but to no avail.Nor could I uncover any evidence that my Grandfather was named after the ship.
