My grandfather was William McKinnly Leavens, son of David Oliver Leavens. My cousin is named David Oliver Leavens.
David Oliver Leavens and family walked to the Dalles Oregon and homestead awhile. There was a Doc Leavens at the Dalles, Not a drugstore cowboy , but a drugstore Doctor.
My grandfather raised me and told me the family was from Ireland, which is verified.
The Edmonds were living on Cherokee property in Georgia before "the Trail of Tears."
My grandmother's daughter of James Edmonds of Willamette Oregon and Emma Marie Alderman were Cherokee. They named my grandmother "Georgia". My mother's name is Virginia. She was the Librarian of the Willamette University and a Genealogist.
Frequently I visited the Edmonds at their home.I knew my great grandmother and great grandfather well. She lived to almost her 100th birtday. Her sister lived in Portland.
I personally traced them back to prior the Trail of Tears. We are registered with the Daughters of the Revolution.
