been having a blast reading all the info on several branches of the edney clan.i have not found a connection between my family and the rest though i am sure one exists.the many stories i have heard over my life from my aunts and uncles dad and grandmother all suggest that our branch is connected to the main tree via. Missouri and North Carolina.
My father his sibling (exc. 1) and grand parents have all passed.this is basically what i know.
My grandfather's name was Marvel Monrow Edney.According to some old military draft records for Nebraska his family was from Sargent, NE.He was Born Aug. 4, 1874.I do not know where he was born. He died May 20, 1928 in Ord, NE.
He and his wife Bessie, had a farm near Broken Bow, NE.He had a few children - M.J., Bessie, Victor, Heugh, Vernard and i do not know the rest right now - will have to look them up if someone is interested.
My dad told me years ago that his father's family moved to Nebraska from Missouri and that his great granddaddy had moved to Misssouri from North Carolina.I have memories of dad's stories of family ties back to Edneyville and even England, and an English Sea Captain, and bunch of Methodist Ministers.
I have found some 1870 census records for Missouri.they show:
* An Amelia Edney living in Dent County - Texas township, MO;
* A Monroe Edney living in Atchison County - Nishnebolne Township, MO;
* A M. Edney Living in Crawford County - Being 24th district, MO; and,
* A John Edney living in St. Louis County - St. Louis Township, MO.
Have no record beyond Sarget, NE that could verify - but I suppect that the Monrow Edney may be great grand dad.I say this only on speculation - considering the Monrow name seems to appear in the middle names of my grand dad, uncle and brother.
Any of you edney genealogist have any records of these people that might show me the way.
