Samuel Jones (from Wales) married Love (Lovenia, Lovey) Edney (b. ENG) dau. of Sir Jonathan Edney in the very early 1800s, coming to America in 1812. Love's older (by 2 years ?) brother, JOnathan, had quarreled with his father earlier and "run away" to the US several years before Love and Samuel arrived. But obviously, by other Edney dates, there were already plenty of Edney and Jones families already there -- tho whether they were related we don't know.
Samuel and Love lived in NC and had three sons: Joseph Edney Jones, John Paul Jones, and James Smith Jones. They died young -- Love in 1820, and Samuel possibly in 1823 -- and the boys were raised thereafter by LOve's brother Jonathan Edney and his wife Elizabeth -- who had just (?) a daughter themselves, Jane C. Edney.
Very soon after his brother-in-law's death, Jonathan sold the family lands in NC and moved his family to the Midwest. James Smith Jones, my great-greatgrandfather, lived long in the Terre Haute IN area and had many children.
Those of us descended from James S. and Joseph Jones (their brother John Paul died young)have info up to the time Jonathan took the family west from NC -- but we'd sure like to know more about what went on while Samuel and Love lived in Pasquotank Co.
We're trying to find out what became of Love's family in England, but so far have had no info.
