Vernon "V.C." Edney, 86, passed away peacefully Nov. 21, 2005, in Sacramento, Calif.
He was born in Edneyville, a son of the late Ralph and Jenni Edney. He was an Army and Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving as a paratrooper and in the Horse Brigade. He had a 22-year career in the Air Force. In 1960, he settled his family in Sacramento, Calif., and worked at McClellan Air Force Base until 1972. He loved the mountains, fishing and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marian; a daughter, Sheila of Sacramento, Calif.; a son, Barry, daughter-in-law, Rise, and grandchildren, Heather and Jason, of San Diego, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Oma Edney of Hendersonville; and three nieces, Barbara Wiliford and Jewell Ramos of Hendersonville and Carolyn Fiorillo of Connecticut.
