Hi Glenn,
My Egerton line is causing me difficulties .I'm finding it really hard to obtain info about my ancestors.I do know so far (and I have birth/marriage certificates to support this), that my great grand father was Frank William EGERTON (b1880 in Gloucester, England). His father was William EGERTON (born 1855 in Gloucester). His father was Francis EGERTON/EGGERTSON (born 1827 in Gloucester).
I'm trying to find out if we are linked to the EGERTON of TATTON family in England, but Francis EGERTON (b.1827) and his wife (Mary Ann RICKARDS b.1829) do not have their parents named on their birth certificates on the LDS Web Site.I know I can contact Gloucester direct as this is how I have gained my info so far, but everything comes at a high price.
I don't know anything about Francis EGERTON, but his son William (snr) (b.1855) married Mary BRADBURY.They had one son called Frank William (my great grandfather).Mary BRADBURY died and her son Frank was brought up by Mary's sister called Mrs. Lockett.William (snr) remarried and had a son called William (jnr).William (jnr) moved to New Zealand where his step brother (Frank) had moved to, from England.William (jnr) married and two days after his wedding went of to war (I think WW1) and was killed.I don't know of any children??Anyway William (jnr) had a farm in Albany, just north of Auckland City in NZ.The farm, I believe was inherited by his wife's side of the family.
And that's about all I know.My Grandfather is still alive (91years) and he is the one who told me this info.He doesn't know much more than I do.
If any of this sounds familiar.... please let me know!
Thanks,
Nicola
