Walt, Since my conclusions are based on circumstantial evidence, I suppose they might be considered a "guess", but an "educated guess."
I am certain that Daniel b. 1823 is not the son of Daniel who was baptised 1752 in New Jersey.Daniel, baptised 1752 in New Jersey, has a son Daniel living in the 1840 census of Crawford Co. Missouri who is age 50-59, indicating he was born between 1781 and 1790.(It's been said that his date of birth was November 12,1782, which is likely, but I haven't seen the proof of that.)Daniel (baptised 1752) also has a son James living in Crawford Co. Missouri. Both Daniel and James have sons in the right age category to be Daniel who married Harriett Carolyn Reeves who is in the 1850 census of Crawford Co. Missouri with H.C. and is age 28.An argument can be made for him being the son of either James or Daniel and I'm not certain of that point yet.He is married by Daniel Eggers, preacher of the gospel, who could be either his father or his uncle or even a cousin. This needs further research. In 1860 there is a Sarah Eggers, age 70, in his household. She could be either Sarah Thomas who married the other Daniel Eggers or Sarah Rash, the wife of James (brother of Daniel b. circa 1782.)Again, needs further research.I'm reasonably certain that Daniel b. circa 1823 links to Daniel and Phoebe, but am not certain whether he links through Daniel, Jr. and unknown wife or through James Eggers and his wife, Sarah Rash.I need the age of Sarah Thomas and the names of the rest of brothers James and Daniel, Jr.'s children. Was Sarah a second wife of Daniel b. circa 1782 or did both James and Daniel have sons named Daniel, one of whom she married?I'm going to send you my research notes through email so you can follow Daniel and Phoebe's family through the census and land records.Perhaps through a concerted effort, we can solve some of these mysteries.
