I need info on Martin Eichenlaub who came here from Germany (actually, I think it was Alsace-Lorain, but the heritage is German.)Martin was born 11/24/1839 and died 4/13/1926.I got this info from his tombstone. His wife's name was Caroline. There are several Eichenlaubs listed in the 1900 and 1920 census.According to an elderly Aunt, Martin came here with three or four brothers to escape the wars going on at that time between Germany and France over their territorial borders.Martin had a son who was also named Martin. (I found this out since my first post.)The second Martin was married to Dolly and he died when his children were very young. And the elder Martin died just a few years after his son Martin died. That is why none of his heirs know much about their ancestors on the Eichenlaub side. If you have any info on this line, I'd appreciate any help you can provide.I have no clue how to search for ancestors in Germany. And if you are not familiar with this particular line, do you have any sites you can recommed on searching in Germany or France?I have other German ancestors on my mother's side of the family that I would like to research also. Thanks for answering my original post, and I sure hope you can shed some light here on the Eichenlaub family heritage!
