Maria Barbara Eiler b. 1757 d. 1819 Morgan Co VA (now WV)
There are several pages of trees on Ancestry which all show the same information about a Maria Barbara Eiler b. ca 1757 and died 1819, no parents shown, who is reported to have married Johannes Wilhelm Spies (Speese, Spease, etc.).They had several children born in York County PA and both died in the same year in Morgan County Virginia (now WV) in 1819, according to these trees. There was a William Spiece and in Morgan County in the 1810 census, he and a wife Barbara were also in land records in 1816 in Berkeley Co VA which later became Morgan County VA.Earlier, he is listed in the Lancaster County PA Militia in the same unit as Herman Spiess and Nicholas Henry.I also believe he may have had a son, Peter, baptized in York County PA.My Nicholas Henry (Heinrich) also spent some time in York County before moving to Berkeley/Morgan County VA/WV.There is a William Speece in the 1820 census in Morgan County VA...father or son?
Not a single one of these trees can give documentation for this marriage information of Anna Barbara Eiler to William Spies (Spiece, Speece). My ancestor, Nicholas Henry, in his Rev. War pension application in 1832 states that his brother-in-law, William Speece, moved to Ohio and took the family Bible with him.A William Speece did move to Ohio and can be found there in later census records.I have been trying to prove that the wife of this William Speece in Morgan County was a sister to Nicholas Henry and could not be the daughter of an Eiler (unless it was a second marriage).
I would greatly appreciate any information relative to this marriage.Thanks.
