A184.108.40.206 Robert Bruce Elgin# was born Feb. 18, 1816 in Rutherford County, N.C. and came to Jefferson County, Tennessee when the family moved there in 1817 and on to Marshall County, Alabama when they moved there around 1835. Robert was married thrice,First, on Oct. 12 1841, to Martha Willson, the daughter of William and Martha Willson.Martha died prior to Aug. 14, 1843 and her daughter, Mary Lueza Elgin, was heir of William Willson in right of his deceased daughter, Martha Elgin. Robert married second in Marshall County on Nov. 27, 1845 to Isabella Martha Gilbraith (Galbraith) born around 1818 and was the daughter of James from Jefferson Co. Tenn.They were married by Elder Martin Putman in the Methodist Epis. ChurchF. H. Garrison sur. They had two children before she died in 1850.Martin Putman and Robert established the Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church in Red Hill in July 1845 where Robert served as clerk and Martin as pastor. Robert married third on Dec. 25, 1851 to Minerva Tipton Jones, who was born in 1813 in Virginia.She was the widow of Samuel Jones, and had three minor children.Celia Emily, William and John Jones. Robert was guardian of these children. Together they had two additional children before Robert died on Apr. 16, 1880 and is buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery# in Calhoun County Ala. with his sister, Susie.His tombstone is listed in one reference book as BorenT. Elgin but the tombstone was just badly weathered and hard to read and so was the printing.I have had it personally checked and it's definitely Robert.
