I am searching for this lady. She is the sister of my gggrandfather. We believe that their father was William Burriss in Morgan County, Alabama. Our best guess on herbirth date is 1815 or before. This based on two land patents found in her name in Alabama Land Patents Database; Morgan County, AL. These were made to Temperance Ellender Burriss.
The tie to our Burriss group is a letter that was written from Morgan County, AL, to my gggrandfather by another sister in 1872. In the letter she states that "sister Tempy is still in Tennessee". She did not give a last name, so we don't know if she was married of not. We have been unable to find a Tempy Burriss there.
William Burriss (her probable father) was born in Virginia @ 1787. Her (probable) mother was born in North Carolina. This was taken from my gggrandfather's census reports. He was born in 1810 (location unknown) and went to Texas about 1834.
Our other clue to family ties is the name Greenberry Wilson. Father William was closely associated with Greenberry Wilson in Alabama and my gggrandfather was tied to William Wilson, Greenberry's brother, in Texas. Also, my greatgrand father was named William Wilson Burriss.
If you could give me a push in the right direction, I would be very appreciative. We (first my Mom, now me) have been searching for about 40 years.BTW, my gggrandfather married Elizabeth Curry whose grandmother was Satsa Vann. Satsahad Cherokee heritage. That's another story that I have not tackled yet.
