Marg, I am a 2nd cousin 5x removed to your Elizabeth Eller. Our connections are through Joseph Eller's mother, Mary Biffle. Mary's sister Elizabeth Biffle married John Weaver, who are my 5th great grandparents.
What is so ironic about the whole thing is that I know a man here in Tennesee who's 2nd great grandfather is Timothy Pittman b. 1829. Timothy & your George were brothers and the sons of Timothy Pittman b. 1794 Greenville Co. SC. Just recently I compiled his genealogy into a database for his Pittman family. Just a couple of days ago I made my connections with your Elizabeth Eller.
I have the database with documentation on the Pittman family if you would like to have a gedcom file of what research I have done. I live in Greeneville, Tenn & have access to the records in this area and only live about 50 miles from Weaverville, NC where your Eller's & my Weaver's lived. Your Pittman's resided about 5 or 6 miles just north of where I live in Greene county, Tenn when they migrated from South Carolina.
I would also like to know if you would share what information you have found on your Pittman's. I do know I found Elizabeth in some kind of institution on the 1880 census and she was listed as a "carpenters wife" and George Pittman definitely was a carpenter. I didn't find him or any of the kids though.
