Hi Michael, I have completed my DNA for the Elliot Clan Research and I have no matches at this time.I tried to e-mail James V. and was unable, is there a new address for him? I have a couple of questions about my DNA results and some of the findings I am coming across with.I completed my DNA test and my number for our project is G79R4.When comparing my results to the Border Reivers study or outside the study. I have no Elliott matches at all or even with any genetic variations.
My haplogroups do match a family Wynne, Wynn, Winn spot on, even at 37 markers for two gentlemen.Going back and studying the US federal Census, I found a Jonathan Winn living with my Great-great-grandfather William John Elliott for several census. It appears William was in the same vicinity as the Winn family in PA then Ohio and then into KY.I can trace this Winn back to the same Wynn’s that line up with my haplogroups.
I have a couple of postings on 2 different Elliott sites looking for relatives to this William Elliott and to encourage them to test for the Border Reivers/Elliott DNA study.I know that I have given very brief information and if you wish I can send you more regarding my family and their history.
Here are the questions: Do you have information on Peter Elliott (1760-1820??), wife Susan Applegate who list only one child, William Elliott?(William John Elliott (b. 10 July 1997 PA///d. 12 March 1863 Pendleton Co., KY) married Mary Elizabeth Major (b. 15 Oct 1802 PA/// d. 26 Jan 1897 Kenton Co., KY)on 17 August 1820). William had many children including my great-grandfather Houston/Huston Elliott. My grandfather was James Wilfred and my father Herbert Leaman. There is little info on Peter Elliott and then only slightly better info on William, He does show up on an 1820’s census in Butler Co. Ohio. From then on there is more census information (Ohio and then KY) but little personal information.Do you know of any Elliott who has taken part in the DNA study and is related to William, i.e. such as a brother to Houston?
