I don't feel related. I had family in Sheldon Wyoming CO. and curiously my kins first b. was Mary Ann. She died in 1834 only two.The family moved to Crawford Co.PA. and back to N.Y.Wales Center before moving to IL.in 1852.My GGGrandfather had a daughter Lucinda. All that doesn't matter as these are common family names. It's just a curiousity.I looked up Maj.Franklin Sykes(Sikes) in Soldiers and Sailors and I don't find him. However there is an unidentified Sykes ,....from a N.Y. Regiment also unidentified. The card is illegible but, there. The 136th N.Y.Vol.Inf. was from the area. I don't see Franklin in any muster rolls. Perhaps State Militia or even the sheriff's office. My memory says they didn't take men over 45 originally. He would of been 41.That changed to 54 as time went on. I also looked at G.A.R. posts and there was one in Pike post #229 but was formed in Sept. of 1881 the earliest in the county was 1771. The post's did give rank to its leaders though I would think would of had military service prior.Pike was the original settlement forming into Eagle and eventually Genesee Falls. So, he might not of moved things changed around him. Good Luck!
