I am searching from my Charity Elmore Allison, she married William Allison (at times appears as Ellison) in Wilkes Co NC, 1793.Recently I came across the following in the Moravian Land Suit Depositions of Wilkes Co NC and it is full of interesting clues. And surely my Charity attaches to this group.
Thought I would post this for the sake of other Elmore researchers and hopefully someone can help me connect to my Charity.
28 Jun 1805Moravian Land Suit Deposition of George Ellmore:about 36 or 37 years ago [1768 or 1769] I came to this country, being about 18 years old at that time, and with my father [not named, darn it] settled on the place where Esq Petty lives ¾ miles from Warrior Creek and near the upper Moravian tract.Robert Sanders lived that time near the mouth of sd creek at the place where the Widow Ann Sanders [Robert and Ann Sanders were husband and wife] lived at the commencement of the said suit, which improvement was purchased of my brother, Travis Ellmore.
Then it describes the land succession, surnames include:from Ann Sanders to Absalom Cleveland, then he back to Ann Sanders. She sold part to William Petty SR and later sold the other part to Thomas Burch.
Deposition continues: ….My brother Travis Ellmore…my Brother in law, Robert Sanders: My sister Ann Sanders ….(So Ann Elmore Sanders was sister to Travis and George.)
Other surnames as listed in the deposition:Gordon, Adams, Smither, McClain, Adams, Hendricks, Moss.
When I came here 36 or 27 years ago Meredith Minton lived onN side Yadkin River where he now lives.Signed:George Elmore
