Dear Mark,
Thank goodness for researchers such as yourself and Michael Dopson!!!!For 20 years (off and on) I have been researching my gggg-grandfather John Byrns and Catherine Imbler.Based on my grandmother's book (Ollie Jackson Burns), whose research is quite flawed but was performed in the early 1920's, I had been hitting brick wall after brick wall.
Recently a cousin, Melissa, indicated that there was information about our ancestor that differed from what I was working with.Based on her leads I found your post.
The realization that Catherine Imbler was the 2nd wife of John Byrns has opened unlimited avenues to research. I suspect that a 1st wife never occurred to me as my ggg-grandfather, Enoch, and his brother Soloman (now known to be his half brother) were quite close. They both moved to Moore County, NC to go into business together (gold mining and turpintine). In addition, many of the legal documents that I have concerning Enoch, speak of his mother Catherine (not step-mother) and his care of her into old age.
My cousin also offered recent information that John Byrns' first wife and mother of the first 7 children is a Mary Lott. This information has also opened up a new line of research. As Caty Imbler was the mother of Solomon and Harrison Byrns, I might be able to offer some scant information on their decendents for your Imbler research should your want it.I am in earnest working on many leads to living descendants for these two boys.Feel free to contact me at [email protected].
Hopefully with the parantage of John Byrns being revealed as Charlie Byrns (of which I will be searching for primary sourcing)I will be able to finally "jump the pond" on this family line - yippy!
Look forward to hearing from you.
