I am a great-grand daughter of Johann (John) Julius(Imm)Emm, my grandfather was William (Bill) John Emm, and my father was Minor Jesse Emm.They lived in the Graymont and Longpoint, Livingston County, Illinois area.
I would be happy to exchange information on the Imm/Emm family members/connections.
I have been searching for many years for more information on my great-grandfathers family members.
I have his birthplace as the Hamlet of Schonlanke, County of Bramberg, District of Schleswig-Holstein, State of Aschloss,Country of Germany/Prussia on a copy of his passport.
His wife was Wilhelamina Austine Timmerman, she was also from the same general area in Germany/Prussia, but I do not know when or where they married.
There has been a conflict of information as to the true birthplace of great-grandfather.
He was drafted into the German/Prussian Army at the age of 22 years, 10 months, from the Hamlet Schonlanke, in District of Schleswig-Holstein, County of Bramberg.
He served 2 years, 6 months and was released with good conduct on September 30, 1854.
He was issued his passport to travel to Chicago, North America on May 11th, 1857.
While searching the censuses in Longpoint, Illinois, I did find him and his wife, he was 40 and she was 38, and their place of origin on the 1870 census stated Hessein Kassel, Germany.
Other censuses have only stated Germany or Prussia.I have not been able to confirm any birthplace information to date.
I did find a record of John Emm purchasing land from the railroad on 5/31/1870.
I am hoping you will contact me so we can share what information we may have.
Regards,
Judy/JCMissy
