Melissa, Dick's Dad's name was Ronald J Endsley. The middle name was only the letter "J," but no name went with it.He was born on October 20, 1919 out in the country near Warsaw, Ohio. He and Thelma Mae Bucklew (born: May 13, 1916/died in 1990)were married on August 25, 1938. I do not know if he was born at home or in a hospital, but I imagine it was at home. He had a sister, Martha Endsley Murphy (m/Harold Murphy - 3 children) a sister, Nadine Endsley, born October 17, 1922 and died 1988, who married Dean Holt. She had MS or MD and died in middle age. They had 1 son. There was a brother, Russell Endsley, who was also in the U.S. Navy, and Russell married Grandma Endsley's sister, Ethel Bucklew. They had Joy, Jeannette, Judy and Randy, all married. All still live in the Warsaw, Ohio area. As far as I know Randy had no children, but the other 3 did. Randy, Judy, Jeannette, and Joy are Dick's double-cousins.
The Bucklew family consisted of other children: Helen Bucklew Crowthers born September 30, 1917, died 1997 (m/Harold Crowthers - no children); Mickey Bucklew Stubbs, born -?-?-? m/Jack Stubbs on April 19, 1942 - 3 children: Susan (unmarried), Carol m/Barry Reminder - 2 kids, and Sandy m/Carroll Harding - 2 children. Sandy Stubbs Harding suffers from Spinal Bifuda and met her husband at a Goodwill workshop for the handicapped. He is nearly blind. Thelma Bucklew Endsley had another sister, Clarice Bucklew Bowers, born October 20, ?-?-? m/Max Bowers, and had 2 children: Dixie(female) and Kim (male). There was another child in Grandma Endsley's family, a boy named Lawrence Bucklew, born ?-?-? and died after 2000 who was married June 1, 1942 to Julia _____?___ who was born August 6, ????, and died of cancer in 1999, and they had 4-5 children. Two of these children became Mormons and Julia became quite interested in genealogy.I know there is a lot of information from her research that should be available through the Mormon research link.
Unfortunately, I have no information relating to Grandma Endsley's father.Dick may remember more about him than I can. After leaving Thelma's mother in Ohio, he led a rather reclusive life down in Florida until his diabetes got the best of him and Ron and Thelma took him back to Ohio with them. He lost his leg due to diabetes, just as Thelma eventually did, and Thelma's mother also died of complications due to diabetes. I cannot remember her name, nor her maiden name, but I think her first name began with an E.Dick should also have more information here than I do.
Grandad Endsley's father was Wilbur W. Endsley, and went by W W Endsley, aka "Poodle". He was born on May 13, year unknown, and died in 1979. He was a farmer, married to Evelyn (maiden name unknown). After Wilbur's mother died, his father lived with Ethel and Russ for awhile. They lived to be quite old. If Dick does not have the information you need about them, perhaps you could write to one of Ethel's children to see if they remember. There should be pictures of them in Brody's family album that I have made for you. Ethel's address is:
310 Cherry St., Warsaw, OH 43844. If she is still alive, she would be over 90 years old.I send her cards every year, and so far none of them have been returned.I do not have her phone number.
