Charles Lee Engebretson obituary submitted
Charles (Chuck) Lee Engebretson was born on March 31, 1936, in Slayton Minnesota, to Allen and Minnie Weigand Engebretson. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Slayton High School in 1954. He then attended SDSU Ag School in Brookings, South Dakota. On November 23, 1957, he and Betty Hintermeister were married at the United Methodist Church in Slayton, Minnesota. Following their marriage they farmed the Engebretson family farm. Chuck was the fourth generation of Engebretsons to farm the family farm. He and his son Mike farmed together for many years. Chuck, semi-retired remained a vital part of the family farming operation. Chuck and Betty wintered in Mesa, Arizona for many years. Chuck passed away on March 12, 2007, at the Banner Baywood Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona at the age of 70. He attended Skandia Free Church in rural Balaton, Minnesota. Chuck enjoyed spending time and visiting with his many friends and family.
Survivors include his wife Betty Engebretson, Slayton, MN; one son Mike Engebretson and his wife Gail, Slayton, MN; one daughter Diane Engebretson, Kansas City, MO; two grandsons: Andy and Jake Engebretson; one sister Marilyn Markey, Carroll, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service was held at Skandia Free Church rural Balaton, MN on Saturday, March 24, 2007, at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Ray Shepard officiating. Music by Deb Peterson and Rev. Ben DenHartog. Interment was at Slayton Memorial Gardens, Slayton, MN.
