Edward was born, 19 Feb 1876, son of Christ and Christina (Rolighed) Engebritson.Christ was born near Christiana, Norway, and came to the US at age 28, just after the Civil War. He first settled Stockholm, WI, where he was a blacksmith. Later he moved to Lake City, MN, and then to a homestead in Chippewa County, MN. He died in 1915, age 76. Christine Rolighed Engebritson died in early life. Their children: Annetta (Mrs. Thomas Holte, Chippewa Co, MN); Edward (Redstone, MT); Dina (Mrs. Christ Johnson, Swift Co., MN). By a second marriage Christ had the following children: Peter, Carl, Even, Alfred, Fritjof, Otto & Stella.
Edward grew up on the family farm and learned black-smithing.He left home and went into cabinet making and attended night school and some college in Minneapolis.He located near Crosby, ND, where he was a blacksmith for six years.From North Dakota, Edward came to Redstone, MT, and engaged in the hardware business. He was also a partner with Jack White in the Redstone Coal Mining Company.
On 11 Mar 1913, Crosby, ND, Edward married Miss Dora Wolford, a teacher, born in Martin county, MN, in1875.Daughter: Edith, b. Jan 1914.
