Dear Richard Grafton:
I am in a bit of surprise here.I had inherited a list of names of descendants of Thomas H. English (b ca 1788-MD) and his wife Alifair Cooper (likely born circa 1791; died 13 July 1833- Illinois) from a researcher named Dr. John Nelson English (born 1866-IL).
I am studying the list now, but at first glance, the only name in common with the same date of birth is Nancy C. English, born 20 Sep 1820-KY.
I also have an Eleanor English (born 1809-KY) on my list of the children of this couple, whom we hear had twelve children from a local history written in Jersey County, Illinois, but I have only nine names from the twelve.
Since we have only one name in common, it is thus possible that there are yet three children from this list who were missed by Dr English because they moved out of the county to Oregon. There are also some possible mistakes in the record, or some children had multiple private names,or that there are multiple individuals with the same name yet different dates of birth. But this seems to be a common fault in my family until today - I have three nieces from three different brothers and all with the same first name.
We will have to keep in touch better to iron the rough edges out here, and to see if we can find common facts.I am aware that Nancy had gone to Oregon, but did not know that others also went until now.
You may contact me privately and directly if you wish. I would prefer that until we can figure out who is who here.
Jonathan
