I am currently conducting research on Ensign House/Inn for the New York State Museum, and was wondering if anyone would be able to fill in some gaps for me - perhaps direct me to more specific sources if need be. I am unclear as to when Ensign house became an Inn, and later, a Tavern (dates). I also am wondering if any pictures (drawings or photos) or detailed property maps of the house/Inn, and associate outbuildings exist. Moreover, I am unclear as to what Happened to Ensign house. I know in 1975 ruins of farm structures were still visible, but not the house.
As you all likely know, Henry Knox stayed at Ensign house on Christmas even 1776 en route to Boston to meet Washington and oust the British. Ensign House was also taken over by the Brit's during the Revolutionary War, and turned into a hospial.
Any and all information, insights and comments would be greatly appreciated and welcomed.
