Hello there,
My Grandma did the same thing. My Dad gave me a whole big brown paper bag full of obit.'s from the newspapers and the service cards. I have glanced through it pulled out a few, recorded the info. and put them back in.
Did you ever get to attend any of the "Cousin" reunions held at Dorothy Batten's? I was able to attend one. We celebrated Grandma METZ' 90th birthday early. she died just five days short of her birthday about 2 weeks later. She wasn't really sick. I only remember her sisters coming and going when I was little staying at Grandma's. Uncle Jack, of course I remember very well. He was at Grandma's so often.
How far have you been able to get? Have you read about the controversy about a John Paul EBLING (correct spelling) and his five sons. If not read some of the early EPLING messages. I can't remember the men's names but it goes around several times by men that have researched and have ideas of where the family came from.
Keep in touch. Thank you for your response. I have a strong feeling we have cousins all over and have no clue even to there last names. Dad,just today had to have surgery to remove a kidney at his age.
Later,
Deborah
