I'm looking for any Ernst family in the Monroe County, New York area.My g-g-grandfather William Ernst, a Civil War vet who enlisted in Rochester, came to the US just before the Civil War.He and his wife Wilhelmina came to Iowa after the Civil War. According to William's Civil War records, he was born in the Parish of Belitz, Gross Wustenfelde, Mecklenburg, Germany. William and his wife are buried in Fairview Cemetery, Iowa City next to William's father John.On the LDS website, a patron submitted file indicates a Johann Ernst with same birthdate that is on John's tombstone at Fairview and several children, all born in Gross Wustenfelde, and living in the Monroe County area in the 1800's as follows:
