Scranton City Directory lists Thomas as first living in the city in 1867, a miner living in Hyde Park.A John Escott was also first listed in the same year, although no connection is known with certainty.
The Scranton Republican had a short article stating that Thomas Escott Sr. died May 8, 1891 at 6 o'clock and that he first came to this country in 1855, residing in Hyde Park for most of his time here.It mentions his wife and 4 children and states he was buried on May 11 in Washburn St. Cemetery.
