Eshleman, Abraham, PA Line, soldier was born 17 Feb 1758 in "Switzerland" "in Europe" and came to America and landed at Phila. County on 12 Oct 1770 and settled in Brecknock township, Lancaster County, PA., and soldier lived there at enlistment.. Soldier applied 1832

The earliest record of the Eshleman family in America is that of the great-great-grandfather, John Jacob, who was born in Germany, 1707, came here in 1729. He settled at Strasburg, where he bought of tract of land.
John Jacob, Jr. son of John Jacob, was born 1742, he married Barbara Groff. Children; Jacob; John, who married 1st Mary Weaver, 2nd Alice Groff; Susan, who married Henry Breckbill; Fannie, who married Joseph Patts; Benjamin who married Fannie Herr; David, married Mary Groff; Barbara, who married Jacob Bachman.
Henry and Mary Eshleman, was natives of Lancaster County, of German patentage, they lived in the Rev. Period. He and his wife died in Martic. They had 10 children; Samuel, a butcher in Marticville; Calvin; Maris, a butcher, died unmarried; Eli, who died leaving a widow and nine children, (Martin, Jacob, Daniel, George, Eli, Elizabeth she married Joseph Rankin, Susan,, married Christian Andrews, Mary, married Henry Hoover, Lydia, married Martin Eshleman);Eliza, who married Jacob Johnson; Susan, married John Good; Elizabeth, the wife of George W. Hiney; Mollie, the wife of John Plank; Barbara, the wife of Samuel Young; Henry; Cilnda, the wife Joseph Hoover; Louisa, the wife of Alexander Humphrey of Lancaster, and Martin.

II. Samuel, son of Martin, was born in 1770 in Providence township, he moved after his marriage to Dauphin County (Hummelsville), he married Anna Martin, was born in Strasburg township in 1772, the d/o Christian and Anna (Bear) Martin. Children; Jacob who died in his 43rd year. Anne, who died March 16, 1902 aged 90y.

IV.Christian, married Mary Cassel,( born April 29, 1833), on Nov. 13, 1856,she was born in Montgomery County, she came to Lancaster County with her parents, Samuel H., and Barbar (Hansbery). Samuel H. Cassel was born in Montgomery County, Oct. 15, 1795, son of John and Elizabeth Cassel. Christian and Mary Eshleman had a large family.
I.Henry, great-grandfather, he was the father of 3 sons, Jacob, John and Henry, and 2 daughters, one married a Hawthorne, and the other married a Kline.
II. Jaocb, was born in 1807, he married Catharine Kauffman, d/o Michael.
III. Benjamin K., married Mary Hershey, a d/o Abraham and Magd. (Martin) Hershey, she was born in 1836.
