I'm searching for some cousins who may have come to a sorry end. I'm hoping to find what became of three siblings who were orphaned in 1964, ranging in age from 12 to 14. They were probably (I hope) placed in foster care, perhaps *before* their mother died.
Alma Emma WRAMPELMEIER married between 1945 and 1950, probably in LA Co., _____ ESPINOSA. They had three children, all born in LA Co. (based on RootsWeb CA birth index):
Josephine Ruth ESPINOSA b. 24 Oct 1950; Fred Emuel(?Emanuel?) ESPINOSA b. 29 Aug 1951; Emma Pastora ESPINOSA b. 19 Jul 1952 d. 7 Oct 1987, ae 35.
Alma Emma was b. 6 Jan 1925, in LA Co. (probably Compton), the third surviving child of John Theodore WRAMPELMEIER and Olive Rowena BUGBEE. Her siblings were:
Emily WRAMPELMEIER b. 1918 d. ?; Ira Peyton WRAMPELMEIER b. 25 Dec 1920 CA, d. 11 Nov 1977 LA Co.
Family lore suggests that Olive mistreated and neglected the children, and Ira was in and out of mental institutions before committing suicide. I just received a copy of Alma Emma's death certificate, which says she died 27 Nov 1964 at RUBIDOUX, Riverside Co., CA. She was widowed, had been in Riverside Co. about three months, last occupation: Domestic, Housekeeping;last [employer]: Gladys M. Parsons. Most chilling was her cause of death: Malnutrition due to starvation. I have not found any of the three children in the on-line phone books, but they may have changed their names through marriage, adoption, etc. My question is this: Does anyone know about Sr./Mr. Espinosa, first name possibly Jesus, born in NM? What resources are available in Riverside County to trace orphaned children in foster care in 1964? Would there be any legal records still available? This is a gruesome chapter in any family's history, but I want to see it through. -Ted
