Hi, saw your post. I too am looking for info on Sephardic Espinosas. In R.Bruce Harley's, The Story of Agua Mansa, Harley states that my great grandfather Jose Manuel Espinosa b1821 was a Sephardic Jew. Manuel came from Abiquiu, NM with the colonists who settled Agua Mansa in San Bernardino Co, CA in 1842, then married Maria Ignacia Atencio b1842 in 1854, had 11 children. Can find no supporting info for Harley's claim that Manuel was from a D'Spinoza lineage which converted during the Inquisition. Manuel's father was said to be Cayetano Hipolito de Jesus Espinosa, also born Abiquiu 1800, and a leader of the colonists trek over the Old Spanish Trail to CA. If you or anyone has any further information on Espinosas from Abiquiu, Sephardic or otherwise, please advise.
The Spanish fought in Holland during the late 1600s during the 30yrs War. Thanks, Mary Anne
