I married Clifford Laird Estabrook. His family history as I was told it by his mother is as follows. The family came from England originally.Their name was changed at Ellis Island NY by Immigration. They were Eastbrook in England and Estabrook after Ellis Island. The family settled in Canada. Ran or owned the Rose Tea Co. there. One of the sons (Stanley A. ?) Estabrook moved to California. He married and had one child, a son, Stanley A Estabrook, the father of my husband. This man was a clock maker. He invented and installed the chain driven clock works that are found in schools. He also built and installed the clock in the Camponillia at Stanford University. He disinherited his son when the boy married against his wishes. The son moved eventually to Sacramento and worked as a small appliance repairman until his death. He had 6 sons. I am married the youngest. Does this sound like a relative of yours? The family has a rather large family tree document following their line back to King David in Israel through Ireland.I do not know where they got it.Its all hand written and rather old. My husband has a copy. I am not sure if the line is for the Eastbrook family or my husbands mothers. Her father was a minister in the China Inland Mission until he was sent home for embracing and teaching Communism to the Chinese before the Boxer Rebellion.
