I wonder if your Wallace Estill could be a descendant of Samuel Estill, Jr.I have tried to find Samuel Jr. for some years.....all I know is that he had a land grant in East Carroll Parish La., but I find nothing more about him in La.There are other (later Estills), but I can't find a connection between them and Samuel, Jr.Samuel, Jr.'s father is Samuel Estill, Sr. who was born in Va., but went to Kentucky and was for years with Daniel Boone, and his brother James Estill in Ky.James and Samuel Sr's father was Wallace Estill.I would think your Wallace might be connected.
Can you tell me where your Wallace lived in La.?Maybe with that we could find more to connect them.
Samuel Jr. had lived in Chicot Co. Arkansas ( I find no indication of his marriage). His brother Henderson Estill and sister Jane Estill Doyle(my connection) and their mother Jane Teas Estill lived in Madison Co. Alabama from the early 1800's until about 1830.From there they moved to Madison Co. Miss, and the Doyles lived in Carroll lCo. Miss.Henderson Estill died in Madison Co. Miss in the 1850's.Samuel Jr. had another sister Mary Ann, who married William Day and settled in Roane Co. Tn. As Samuel Sr. became more feeble, that is where he lived and died.Jane Teas E. pushed on southward with her children.
I hope you find something in this that makes sense to you, and you find a connection with the elder Wallace Estill. They seemed to use the same names quite often in the families, and it makes it difficult to determine which family they belong to, but you can be fairly certain with the name of Estill that they were all connected somehow.I know of one African American Estill family (whose name would have originated with "Monk Estill" a slave of Capt. James Estill who accompanied him to Ky. and saved Fort Boonesborough with his knowledge and skill in making gunpowder when it was not available on the frontier.
Good luck!
