In the interest of sharing research, I would like to let you know of a new website. After several years of compiling data, I produced a book on the Estes family. It traces 17 generations of my line from Nicolas-1 Ewstas (1495 Eng. – 1533/4 Eng.) down to Thomas-10 Estes (1799 NC - 1886 W.T.) and beyond. The purpose of the book was to compile every piece of information I could reasonably locate on the family in a readable form, while still providing source references for others to continue research -- it includes almost 400 footnotes. I wrote it for my family's use, but have been encouraged to share it with others.
I worked closely with other leading researchers, such as Larry Duke (editor of Estes Trails); Jim Estes, creator of the website The Estes Group on Yahoo; Leroy Eastes; and, Harriett Hart Beach who has exhaustively covered the Washington and Oregon branches. Their work and discoveries fill the book. Where possible, I included historical background and geographical information.
Noted Estes-Eastes researcher David Powell has graciously developed a website and hosts excerpts of the book at http://stew.estes-eastes.orghttp://stew.estes-eastes.org . Please feel free to share this link. A PDF file containing the entire book is available. It is over 700 pages, and the appendix is another 148 pages.
