For Daniel Estey I'm not sure. It's interesting that the name was spelled Eastis in the oldest record though. It's possible he might have been an Estes ( i.e. descended from Robert Estes of MA ) rather than an Estey ( i.e. descended from Isaac Estey of MA ). Descendants from both families wound up in Maine, more Estes than Esteys. I've looked into both since my ancestor was recorded as "Eliza Estey or Estes" in at least one of our descendant lines, as if the surnames are interchangeable. There was a Daniel Estes (Benjamin3, Richard2, Robert1) of Berwick and Bethel ME who had an unnamed son who is supposed to have gone to New Brunswick and remained there. I never found an Estes in NB so thought the surname might have changed to Estey. Daniel Eastis might be the son of Daniel Estes – no proof or guarantee of that though. Good luck on your research.
