To anyone who might be a descendant of David King Estill, I believe that I may have found out the maiden name of his first wife Nancy. While checking out the Fayette Co., Al GenWeb site, there is a Bible Listing, and not really expecting to find much (I grasp at straws a lot, lol), I clicked on the find feature of my computer and typed in the Estill surname, and up popped Nancy Estill d. 18 Sep. 1856, I knew that our Nancy had died ca. 1857, so I got a little excited, so decided to look at the rest of the listings on this page (Hawkins and Hickman Births and Deaths primarily), and there was a listing for a Nancy Hawkins, b. 11 Nov. 1820, now I really got excited, because I knew from the 1850 Marion Co., Al Census records, that Nancy Estill wife of David King Estill was born in 1820 in Mississipi.Of course there is also a listing on this same Census of one of their children as Hawkins Estill b. ca. 1845.If I am correct, I still don't know who her parents are, but at least possibly we are one step closer.
Let me know what you think.Guess the next step is to check out the surrounding area for the Hawkins and Hickman surnames (I kind of suspect that her mother's maiden name might be Hickman).
