Hi, Sandra. I am researching the Etheridges for my daughter-in-law. Her mother was an Etheridge whose family I have traced back to Dresden, Weakley, Tennessee. The grandfather's name was Gaylon Etheridge and his father was Jim L. Etheridge. Jim L. was married to a woman named Johnie E. Nabors in Weakley Co., TN in Dec. 1900. Gaylon's wife was Mildred Hazelman of Livingston Co., MI. They married before 1943 in MI. I have been able to go back a couple more generations on Johnie E. Nabors family, but I'm stuck at Jim L. Etheridge. My daughter-in-law's mother recently e-mailed me with the info that, according to her grandfather, either his father or grandfather was a Cherokee Indian. (Of course, he was a chief, but isn't everyone's ancestor of Indian blood a Cherokee Indian chief?) I had a similar story in my family, except my grandmother had names, both Indian and English. At any rate, if you could look in your 'magic' Etheridge book for any of these names, I would greatly appreciate it.Thank you so much.
