EVELYN MARY ETTER, 53, of Houston, passed away Monday, March 4, 2002 after a lengthy illness. Evelyn was born in Philadelphia on June 13, 1948 and attended Rutgers University at Camden, New Jersey, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. In 1976, she received her Master of Science degree in Geology from the University of Kentucky. After moving to Houston, she worked many years in the Petroleum Industry and was a long standing member of the Houston Geological Society. Evelyn was active with many conservation and nature preservation organizations. She was an officer of the Houston Cactus and Succulent Society for several years. She devoted many hours to helping injured and abandoned animals with various non-profit groups. She was also a great patron of the Arts in Houston. Evelyn will be deeply missed by those who were privileged to know her. Evelyn is survived by her two cousins, Paul C. Etter and Vivian R. McIntyre. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of J. B. Earthman - Tanglewood Funeral Directors, 5740 San Felipe at Bering Drive. A graveside service will be held on a later date in Philadelphia, PA.
