The information about your grandfather Frank Etzel is in the mail on Feb 4, 2005:Air Mail, 4-7 day delivery.
That said, I'm still not sure how well I've sorted this family history out.I talked to a man today who delivered to the Etzel's store in Vail, starting in 1952, and there was a Frank Etzel, an elderly man there then, whom I believe might be your grandfather Frank Etzel's COUSIN Frank Etzel. This changes my tentative family picture identification:I believe the man I thought might be Joe Etzel, COUSIN Frank Etzel's father, instead might be "Uncle Franz," and then the question becomes:where/what happened to Joe Etzel, brother to (Ludwig)Adolf and "Uncle Franz" Etzel, father of COUSIN Frank Etzel, who also worked at their meat store?Anyway, I hope to be talking to someone soon who is an expert in Vail IA history, so you may see another letter.
Good luck sorting this out if you go look for census and/or ship manifests or other geneological research!
Also, apologies:the parents of (Ludwig) Adolph Etzel, in Bavaria Germany are your great great grandparents (one too few "greats" in my previous posting.)
Please let me know when you receive this, OK, and what you think:are we talking about the same "Frank Etzel" who did the Klondike Gold Rush?
