I am seeking information about the following Everitts from Jamaica, Queens County, and Long Island, New York.The members of this family group are descendents of Richard Everitt, one of the proprietors of Jamaica.He m: Unknown Smith, the daughter of Nehemiah Smith.But I do not know how they relate.I am seeking any information to be more definitive about this family; especially the dates of John and Mary (Thatford) Everitt and their parents.What I know about this tree follows:
John Everett, b: Long Island, m: Mary Thatford.John was a carpenter and was instrumental in building the Presbyterian Church of Jamaica; the first and still existing Presbyterian Church in America.The children of John and Mary (Thatford) Everitt:
1. Catherine Ann Everitt, b: abt 1818 in Jamaica, m: Norman VanNostrand on December 12, 1835 in Newtown, Long Island, New York.He was b: abt 1814;
2. John Everitt, b: abt 1819 in Jamaica, m: Eliza Welling;
3. James Everitt, b: abt 1820 in Jamaica; and
4. Joseph B. Everett, b: October 10, 1821 in Jamaica, Long Island, m: Ellen Parsels, b: abt 1824 and d: abt 1914.Joseph d: December 23, 1884.Joseph was employed in the carriage making trade until 1843, when he joined his father and brother in their undertaking business.Joseph B. and Ellen (Parsels) Everitt had four children:

He was b: February 9, 1846 in Port Chester, New York, d: March 18, 1920 in Nation City, California.He was a Captain in the navel service.Robert Kinnard and Mary Ellen (Everitt) Clarke had a son, James Everitt Clarke, b: January 5, 1886 in Jamaica, m: Anna Burkett on June 10, 1891.She was b: December 22, 1868 in Greenpoint, New York. d: August 3, 1902 in Nashville, Tennessee.James Everitt Clarke was listed in the Who was who among North American Authors and Who was who in American History.He d: December 14. 1957.
b. Benjamin F. Everitt, b: May 26, 1848 in Jamaica, m: Mary E. Baylis on December 11, 1868.Benjamin worked as the Postmaster of Jamaica and was elected coroner of Queens County in 1883 until January 1, 1895. Benjamin F. and Mary E. (Baylis) Everitt had three daughters; Carrie E. b: November 27, 1872, Nettie R. and Anna M.
