The information that they lived in or near Pittsburgh comes from a little genealogy notebook kept by my great-uncle (he lived from 1897 to 1975). He spelled the couple’s last name “Urat,” but based on what I’ve seen in the 1861 and 1871 census records from England, I’m pretty sure it was Ewart.
The person I’m most interested in finding out about is Elizabeth Ewart (maiden name Fox), who is my fourth great-aunt. She was born in Ireland, and I’m hoping that she might have left some records behind giving details about her family in Ireland. My ultimate goal is to see if I can track down my Irish ancestors. I know this probably seems like a fairly roundabout way of doing so, but I'm hoping I might turn up some helpful clues this way.
