Unfortunately, I do not have any of the individuals you seek in my records. You did not give locations where CALISTA L. EWER lived, or where SMITH B. EWER lived later in his life, but you note that ELSIE MATILDA (EWER?) can be found in Minnesota in the 1920 Federal Census.
Just as my EWER ancestors moved from New England to New York to Wisconsin, many other descendants of the first THOMAS EWER moved across the northern United States and some would have settled in Minnesota.I would judge it likely that a EWER individual found in Minnesota in the late 1800s or early 1900s was probably -- although not certainly -- descended from that first THOMAS EWER.
In my own line, CHESTER EWER (son of the 7th THOMAS EWER), himself moved at the end of his life from Wisconsin to Le Ray Township, Blue Earth County, Minnesota, and probably died there in the late 1880s.However,according to my records, he did not leave any descendants in Minnesota (most of his children lived their entire lives in Wisconsin). However, someone among his EWER nephews or cousins certainly could have moved to Minnesota and CALISTA, SMITH and ELSIE could be their descendants.
Have death, marriage, or birth records been any help in gathering details for these individuals? Can you find any land records for them, where they may have bought from or sold to family members? It is usually easier to start with what you know and work backward. If you can locate death records, they often have parents' names or residences listed that allow working backward some more.In my own research, it was obtaining the death record of my ancestor, LUCINA EWER, that finally allowed me to find her EWER lineage.
I wish you great luck and success in finding your EWER connections!Let me know what you find. Candy
