My mother, Dorothy Gail (Watson) Faber, was the daughter of Frank Howard Watson and his wife, Nellie Amanda Peterson. (See www.Ancestry.com for more on Dorothy's ancestry.) Dorothy was born 9/17/1926, in San Diego, CA, and died on 3/8/2006 in her home in San Juan Capistrano, Orange County, CA. Dorothy was an artist her entire life.In her later years, circa 1980, Dorothy became interested in the folk art style of painting on wood known as "tole painting". Dorothy painted thousands of pieces of tole painting and always signed the back of the pieces with her name "D. Faber".Sometimes she included the year she painted the piece, but not always. Dorothy sold hundreds, if not thousands, of pieces of her art work throughout southern California during the 1980's & 1990's.Several art galleries and other shops in San Juan Capistrano sold her art work. She also sold some of her pieces in shops in the mountain village of Idyllwild, California, where she and her husband, Richard Warfield Faber, Sr., have owned a weekend home since 1975. I am posting this message so that future generations of people may learn something about my mother if they come across one of her pieces of art. Sincerely; Richard Warfield Faber, Jr., Dorothy's son.
