My father Tom Fahey (Thomas Bernard Fahey)(deceased) was born in Roscommon in 1922. About 1943 he migrated to Manchester. His sisters were Maureen, Nancy, and Josie. No brothers. I am the eldest of five and was born March 4, 1944.
As the story goes according to my mother's relatives back then, he was in Stockton-on-Tees in 1943 as a house painter when he made my mother pregnant and then fled. I was six months old when he was found and 'captured' by his parents who had come from Ireland, forced to leave behind another woman who was pregnant, and forced to marry my mother.
