I'm not sure if it has helped or hindered, but the marriage of William FAIRBAIRN and Isabella BLACK did allow me to connect up some info I had on them.
In 1881 they were in Ilderton, and as Ancestry now has 1871 online, I checked them out there too, and added the info that William was born Ancrum, ROX.
He MIGHT therefore be the son of George F and Margaret (Someone) at Yetholm in 1841.Certainly the naming pattern of William and Isabella's children supports this, even if it doesn't prove it.
I couldn't spot William and Isabella in 1891, alhtough I think sons Andrew and Robert were still around Northumberland, boarding with separate families and employed as shepherds.
