What happened to Robert FAIRBAIRN (or Fairburn) and Agnes Ellen MOSHER? Robert, b. 1850 in Quebec was apparently a son of William George (b 1825) and Sarah Ann Fairbairn (b. 1828). I find him with his parents on the 1852 census for Canada East, Ottawa Co, Hull Tp. Next thing I know Robert married Agnes E Mosher in Port Burwell, Elgin Co, Ontario 03 Oct 1876 [Ontario Marriages #2053-76]. On the 1881 census I find William G and Sarah with 3 young Fairbairn ladies in the house living in Pontiac Co, Quebec. I find Robert and Agnes in Leslie, Pontiac, Quebec in 1881. All ages match up depending on months of birth. I think these are all the right family. According to the 1881 census, Fairbairn Sr was a mill operator, and it must have been thru the lumber business that Agnes & Robert met. Agnes Ellen (b. Dec 1853) was a daughter of Jehu (or John) Mosher, a lumber mill operator in Houghton Tp, Norfolk co, ON near Glen Meyer, a few miles from where Robert and Agnes were married.
Problem is - what happened to Robert & Agnes after 1881? Did they have children? A lot of her family moved to Michigan in the 1880s - did they leave Quebec and follow too? Did they go elsewhere in Canada? They should be around for the 1901/00 and 1911/10 censuses. But I cannot find them in Canada. Can anyone help? Looking for other Fairbairn - Mosher researchers. PS: I am doing Mosher research of Daniel & Lavina who arrived in Ontario abt 1828 from Hants Co, Nova Scotia. If you have information, please contact me. Carol
