Faireys in 1841 census
What a mess!
The IGI is full of approximated Faireys and variations with "abouts" all over them..
Well, I have a bundle of them spelled FAIREY in the handwritten census returns of 1841 for a small corner of Herts. John the village shoemaker, Jane his widow mum, and his two brothers Thomas and George who till the fields..
It seems they were not locally born, and the IGI with its "abouts" and other guesses isn't "about" to help me
Anyone know?
