I would like to know more about the Benjamin Fairweather who received a 1785 New Brunswick land grant with Edward Sands. The 200 acres was in the Grand Lake area of Sunbury County.
The land grant is listed at the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick website www.archives.gnb.ca -- click on "Government Records" then click on "Land Grants"
Edward was a son of George and Jemima Sands of Cow Neck, Long Island/Block Island, Rhode Island. He was "2nd Lt. Co. 49" according to Esther Clark Wright's book "The Loyalist of New Brunswick".
George and Jemima Smith Sands married "at Poughkeepsie, Apr. 1757" according to the book "Descendants of James Sands of Block Island" by Malcolm Sands Wilson. One of the postings in this forum references Fairweathers of Poughkeepsie.
