I have a family history book on Regnier. in it it say Louis Regnier(b Apr 11, 1758, d Sept 12 1828. m. Mar.3 1783 at St.Philippe-Laprairie Que.,Romaine Falcon born Aug.18 1766 they had 12 children heres the story "Louis regnier was an inn keeper at L'Acadie, a town of some 1,025 inhabitants about 25 miles south of Montreal. It was here that many of the Acadians fled after being expelled from Nova Scotia in 1755.The attractive church with stone facade is named for Sainte Marguerite de Blairfindie( St. Margaret of Scotland). And this is where nearly all ofthe branch of Regniers lived before coming to the U.S. They seem to have come directly to this area from La Rochelle France.Louis and his wife Sophie Romaine Petronille Falcon had a 12 children. some of which remained in Canada." There is more if this helps.
