Dear Lily Doty: I'm sorry I don't know about your Alexander Falconer from Scotland and his son John and grandson Alexander of Baltimore. Old parish records, available on the Scotland's People web site show at least two Alexander Falconers born in Bunkle and Preston Parish in Berwickshire to George Falconer and Beatrice Mack in about 1792, and to Alexander Falconer and Helen Brown in 1793, respectively. The 1792 Alexander married Mary Miller and fathered Robert Falconer in 1821 in Eccles, Berwickshire. Robert married Mary Henderson, and they emigrated with their family, including Robert's parents, Alexander and Mary, to what is now Ontario, Canada in 1842. A "Duns Falconer" family tree at http://www1.tribalpages.com/tribe/browse?userid=ffalconer&rand=66262http://www1.tribalpages.com/tribe/browse?userid=ffalconer&rand=66262 describes that family and its descendants. I have a suspicion that George Falconer and Alexander Falconer, who fathered the two Alexanders in 1792 and 1793, respectively in Bunkle and Preston, were brothers, possibly sons of a John Falconer, since both named their first-born sons John. I got involved with these Berwickshire Falconers through trying to trace my most distant Falconer ancestor, named Thomas, but came to no firm conclusions. My Falconer family tree is at http://dunkeldfalconer.tribalpages.com/http://dunkeldfalconer.tribalpages.com/.
Hope this helps. There were probably a lot of people named Alexander Falconer living at the same time in Scotland! David Falconer
