I stumbled across a probate record while looking for a completely different line yesterday. This and subsequent records I found, once I turned my attention to these families, make it clear that the wife of James Fales (1720-1793) was Sarah WETHERELL, daughter of Jeremiah Wetherell (b. about 1685, died bef January 20, 1751/52 Taunton, Bristol, MA).Her mother was probably Rachel Bassett.By the time of Jeremiah’s death, he was married to Sarah Briggs.
Jeremiah Wetherell (abt. 1685-1752) was the son of William Wetherell (b. abt 1650, d. abt 1729) and Elizabeth Newland (b. May 15, 1659, Taunton, Bristol, MA.)William Wetherell was the son of another William Wetherell.
Elizabeth Newland (b. May 15, 1659, Taunton, Bristol, MA) was the daughter of Jeremiah Newland (d. July 25, 1681, Taunton, Bristol, MA).His first wife may have been named Ruth, but when he died he was married to Katherine.
