Hi Frances, I am a descendant of Redmond Fallin of the Danville area of Pittsylvania County, Virginia. He first established his home on the Dan river by 1745.
I think he was a son or grandson of a Redmond Fallin from Maryland... or he himself was an immigrant from Ireland alone.
There are documents of a Redmond Fallin on the Monocacy Hundred ... listed as a Quaker. (Quakers were helping Irish to come to America, especially if they were known or thought/claimed to be quakers... another long story)
I don't think he remained as a Quaker for too long ... and headed out to Virginia ... then again, some say a Quaker colony was started in south-central VA about the time he arrived. This is something I am still trying to research.
Also ... are all these Maryland Redmond Fallin's related? or were the names Redmond & Fallin just common given and surnames in Ireland? Just a coincidence, or not?
There's also a Redmond Fallin and Rachel Millis in QA county, Maryland in the early 1700's, if I recall ... they were also listed as Quakers.
Also there's a Barnaby Fallin or Fallon in either Dorch. or Somerset? county ... I forgot all this stuff ... anyway in 1687 ... he was a servant, died in 1687, "having been borned in Ireland"... yes, it said "borned" lol.
Barnaby was a servant to Cornelius Ward.
I don't know if any of these people tie together.
There's a "Fallin's Cove" near Bishop's Head, that's probably named after YOUR ancestors, to which I had hoped to be related to, but could never prove .... but hey!I have an idea!let's do the DNA thing!
I am the son of a son (dad) of a son (grandpa) of a son (grt grandpa) of Edward Townes Fallin who was born in Maury county Tennessee, and was the son of Littleberry or Littlebury Fallin or Falling (our name was constantly mis-spelled) who was a grandson of Edmond Fallin the son of Redmond, the son of the Redmond Fallin from Maryland/Ireland (supposedly a Quaker).
So ... that's all I know .. as far as my memory goes, unfortunately my soon to be ex-wife has most of my paper documentation from trips and inquiries I had done years ago.
and we are not on the greatest of terms right now ... so that's all I'm gonna have until I get those papers/books/note-books/pictures etc. returned to me.
I hope this set you on the right trail or gave you some ideas. Lance T. Fallin
